New Stubborn Baby Pics

Today was Baby Schaab's 19 week visit to Dr. Ashby. Dr. Ashby got caught up in a delivery at Evanston, so she was running late. Baby Schaab was not happy when she finally got there, and we didn't get many good pictures. Dr. Ashby said she looked good, even if she wasn't cooperating. I'm going back on January 18th for measurements of the baby with Theresa, the ultrasound tech. Also, a new part of my visit today was measuring my belly. Today my belly was measuring a week and a half ahead, however they will confirm this at our next appointment when the measure the baby. It's not from too much weight gain because I'm right on track there... if not a little under. Dr. Ashby said be ready to really start gaining as the baby is starting to grow fast! Take a look at the few pics we got today! :)

19 weeks - Happy Birthday Mommy to Be!

Today is the start of week 19... Here is what Baby Girl Schaab is up to this week according to babycenter.com...

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

How far along? 19 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +4 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them.... especially since my pregnancy wardrobe just doubled after Christmas!

Sleep: Is back to waking up a few times a night... however Mike just got me a Boppy Total Body Pillow for Christmas which has provided me an amazing past three nights of sleep. I'm still waking up but this body pillow is amazing! A lot less tossing and turning.
Best moment this week: Being with all of my family and seeing how everyone is so excited for Baby Schaab's arrival! Also, I was able to feel her move a lot more this week! :)

Movement: Some flutters every so often.... It's very exciting and I'm hoping that I start to feel her more and more! Now waiting for the kicks to start... I know Mike is very excited for this as well as he listens to my belly trying to hear her.

Food cravings: Still Juicy Oranges... I LOVE THEM! :) Now if I could only snap my fingers and they would peel themselves... Really any sort of fresh cut fruit that I don't have to cut myself screams my name.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Not yet. :)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: I actually really am enjoying being pregnant! :) I've been drinking a lot of sparkling juice while everyone else enjoys champagne, wine, etc.... and enjoying all of the yummy flavors!

What I am looking forward to: Seeing Baby Schaab TODAY!!!! What a fabulous golden birthday present!!! I hopefully be able to post some pictures today or tomorrow. I'm also looking forward to wearing my new maternity suit in Florida this week! :) I'm leaving tomorrow and Mike's meeting me there on New Year's Eve for a long weekend. It should be a fabulous and sunny New Year's!

Milestones:
Baby Schaab's arms and legs are now the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body. That is very exciting! Mike and I also have started registering for "baby things" as I read about them in Best Baby Products: Consumer Reports for Baby. This has been a bit nerve racking for me as I'm not a baby expert... yet!

Week 18

Today is the start of week 18. Here is what Baby Girl Schaab is up to this week according to babycenter.com...

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin, and her ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from her head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place.

How far along? 18 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +4 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them.

Sleep: Actually had a great week sleeping (knock on wood). I think the body pillow helps... although it is a little flat!

Best moment this week: Starting to see my belly grow more and more... My mom and I also went to Kickin', a maternity store in Roscoe village. It's a lot different from the Old Navy maternity section... LOVED IT! :)

Movement: I think I've started to feel the baby "quickening" in my belly. It's a weird feeling I've never felt before but I'm not 100% sure it's the baby. No swift kicks yet... which I'm guessing will be strong if she has my soccer genes.

Food cravings: Juicy Oranges... I LOVE THEM! :) Now if I could only snap my fingers and they would peel themselves...

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Nope.

What I miss: I actually really am enjoying being pregnant! :) Nothing I miss this week but I have a feeling after making cookies today, I'll miss eating raw cookie dough.

What I am looking forward to: Feeling Baby Schaab move more in the next couple of weeks. Also, Mike being able to feel the baby move... he tries to listen to her at night time. I'm also looking forward to seeing our baby girl next Monday, as I have my 19 week ultrasound which should be a lengthy one since the do a lot of measurements... so I'm really looking forward to that birthday present! :)

Milestones: Mike says, "that you have a noticeable baby belly". I also was "professional fitted" for a bra this weekend... what an experience. I didn't know my bra size existed, but we'll leave it at that. The girls look and feel fabulous for now... Thanks mom and Jess to a fun field trip! :)

Week 17

Today is the start of week 17. Here is what Baby Girl Schaab is up to this week according to babycenter.com...

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now, and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

For any boys who are sick of fruit and veggies... this comes from "His Boys Can Swim": Dad's Pregnancy Guide.

How far along? 17 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: + 2 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them.

Sleep: Still getting up 1-2 times in the middle of the night. I started sleeping with a body pillow which has helped me sleep more as a side sleeper.

Best moment this week: "Connecting" with my baby during pre-natal yoga which I started last Sunday. I also really liked looking at baby "stuff" with Mike at Target!

Movement: I think I've started to feel the baby "quickening" in my belly. It's a weird feeling I've never felt before but I'm not 100% sure it's the baby. No swift kicks yet... which I'm guessing will be strong if she has my soccer genes.

Food cravings: Juicy Oranges and Coke - (don't worry only one, if any, a day) which has helped me relieve these "hormone headaches" I have been having. They feel like a sinus headache mixed with a really bad hang over... Coke seems to do the trick. Not sure if it's a craving... but it helps get rid of the headaches!

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? IN.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night... however I'm sure that's long gone...

What I am looking forward to: Feeling Baby Schaab move more in the next couple of weeks.

Milestones: I gained my first pregnancy pounds this week... let the fun begin.

16 weeks

Today is the start of week 16. Here is what "B Schaab" is up to this week according to babycenter.com...

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, she's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. Her legs are much more developed, her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her locks aren't recognizable yet. She's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
What's going on with Mommy Caroline:
The top of your uterus is about halfway between your pubic bone and your navel, and the round ligaments that support it are thickening and stretching as it grows. You're probably feeling a whole lot better as you settle into pregnancy, too. Less nausea, fewer mood swings, and "glowing" skin contribute to an overall sense of well-being.

Soon you'll experience one of the most wonderful moments of pregnancy — feeling your baby move. While some women notice "quickening" as early as 16 weeks, many don't feel their baby move until about 18 weeks or more. (And if this is your first baby, don't be too impatient — you may not be aware of your baby's movements until 20 weeks or so.) The earliest movements may feel like little flutters, gas bubbles, or even like popcorn popping. Over the following weeks they'll grow stronger and you'll be able to feel them much more frequently.

How far along? 16 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +/- 0 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them.

Sleep: Getting up 1-2 times in the middle of the night. I've also had to change sleeping positions to sleeping on my side - which is not my favorite. I started sleeping with a body pillow which has helped me sleep more.

Best moment this week: Seeing our baby girl last Monday.

Movement: None yet.

Food cravings: Macaroni and Cheese with Chicken and Broccoli.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? IN.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night... however I'm sure that's long gone...

What I am looking forward to: Feeling Baby Schaab move in the next couple of weeks.

Milestones: Finding out we're having a girl! Now when we talk about the baby we can say "her", "she", "girlfriend", "baby girl Schaab".
