I love hanging with my mommy...

One of the great things about mommy being a teacher is that sometimes she gets days off...  and every once in awhile weeks off!   Mommy is currently on Holiday Break from school so I get to hang out with her all day for the next two weeks!   Luckily we've got lots going on.  On Monday we went to go visit Dr. Boyce to get my eyes checked.  Dr. Boyce's daughter was in mommy's class last year and suggested I come get my eyes checked.   It was a quick visit and my eyes look fabulous!

After visiting with Dr. Boyce, I needed a nap.  Caymus wanted to nap with me.

While I was napping Mimi and Mommy started making pierogi.  This is a tradition on mommy's side that has been going on for a very long time.

I got to help mommy seal some of the pierogi.

Tuesday morning we stayed in our PJs and baked s'mores bars and Eggnog Snickerdoodle Cookies.  I got to play with the spatula.

 I really enjoyed my job.

Then I got a package in the mail!   I was very excited so mommy let me open it.  It was from Great Aunt Mary who lives in Maine.  I've never met her so it was very nice of her to send a gift.

I figured I should practice opening presents, just in case Santa comes... there are also quite a few presents under the tree... I hope some of them are for me!

I got some great presents.  A book called I Met a Mouse in Maine, which is a very funny story my mom read to me today, some stuffed animals, and a really nice coat, hat, and mittens set.  I'm one lucky girl.

We finally changed out of PJs... and I was just being cute while mommy was getting ready.

Then we took out my big girl car seat.  I think mommy might attempt to install it tomorrow.  It's a lot more comfy and safer than my infant seat.  I'm getting pretty big for that one.  So this is going to be my "new ride".  I really like sitting in it.

I can't wait for the next two days... I have two play dates!!!!

Santa... I Know Him!

Santa and I met the day after Thanksgiving, but it was too close to my bedtime to visit, so we just said hi.  This past Friday, Mommy & Daddy took me to see Santa downtown at Macy's.  First we ate breakfast at the Walnut Room, then we went to Macy's Santaland to visit the big guy!

We walked right into breakfast without waiting... Mommy and Daddy were shocked because that's not what they remember doing when they were little.   Waiting for Santa though, was a long time.  We waited about an hour and a half.  I was really well behaved and was interested in all of the different scenery and kids around us waiting.  It was all so exciting that I fell asleep right before it was my turn to see Santa!   I woke up on his lap... once I figured out who he was, I was so happy to see him!

Mommy, Daddy, and I had a fabulous Friday!

In the car on our way to see Santa!  Daddy kept me company in the back seat.

 Sleeping on Mommy... we're next.

Yes, that's me passed out sucking my thumb.

Wow, I fall asleep and wake up in Santa's lap!

Happy 1/2 Birthday to Lila!

Mom, I don't want to pose, I want to play with my blocks!

Age - 6 months old

Weight -17  lbs. (75% percentile)

Height - 26 in. (75% percentile)

Diaper Size - 3

Clothing - Carter's 9 month fits the best...  but she's also wearing 6-12 month clothes too.

Sleeping habits - Pretty much the same as the last few months.  We start our bed time routine around 6:30 p.m. after Lila has some "dinner".  After a bath and feeding Lila, we read three books, always ending with On the Night You Were Born. She is usually pretty sleepy!   She's still sleeping until anywhere in between 5:30-7:30 a.m.   We also had to drop her crib lower because her pediatrician was worried that since she's getting so strong, she may start climbing soon!

Eating habits - We've just started solids so we're working on a new routine.  Right now she's eating before her morning feeding, and then in the evening about a 1/2 hour before bed & bath time.   She's loving both we've tried so far, organic brown rice and oatmeal.   This weekend I'm planning on making some sweet potatoes and perhaps having her try some bananas.  I also have some apples in the freezer from picking earlier in the year.   So far she's loving the solid foods!

Favorite activity - SWIMMING!   She loved the pool!  She also is a HUGE fan of her "new" Exersaucer, which is on loan from the Tefkas.  Thanks Paige and Addison!

Cutest Moment of the Month - Swimming in the pool.  She loved the water and loved the Florida weather!

Milestones

  • First Airplane Ride

  • Sitting (even though sometimes she's a little wobbly)
  • Eating solid foods (even thought it's only been a few days)
  • First Vacation

  • Dropping her crib
  • Lots of Babbling!
  • Lila's 1st Thanksgiving!

  • We also went to Candy Cane lane in Park Ridge to see Santa come into town on a fire truck!  We didn't get to visit with him because it was my bedtime.

My first time in the pool!

It's my first time in Florida... and I get to go swimming!  Mommy and Daddy were very excited to see how I would like the pool since I LOVE bath time.   My first time was a success!  I LOVED it!  The only think I didn't like so much was getting out of the water.

 Testing out the water...

 We're in!

 I'm swimming!

 It's a success!  I love the pool!

I even have a sweet floatie!  I'm a little small for it, but with Mommy and Daddy's help I can sit in it!

All bundled up after a swim!

After all of that swimming I needed a nap...

So did Daddy!

Here's a lengthy 5 minute video of my first time in the pool... I start doing more exciting things around 3 minutes! :)
