Week 27

Some websites and books say Week 27 is when you enter the 3rd trimester... others say it's week 28... regardless - we are entering the last part of our pregnancy! I feel like time is starting to breeze by and before we know it we'll be meeting our little girl! Mike and I took a field trip to Pottery Barn kids this Saturday to check out the bedding we had picked out online along with the crib and some other stuff. We were able to pick out a paint color for the nursery, as well as change a few things around after seeing them in person. We then proceeded to check out Baby Gap and Janie and Jack for some browsing of baby clothes. Needless to say we can't wait!!!

This week is pretty big for us... tomorrow we are meeting the pediatrician that was referred to me by a friend from work (Thanks Michele!)... when we were talking about the practice, a bunch of my students returned from P.E. and immediately were bragging about how great their doctors were... turned out it was the same practice! So, after a mom gushing about how these doctors were amazing and the kids loving them, I figured I'd call up and see what they're all about. They invited Mike and I in for a pre-natal visit, where we meet the doctors and the staff and see their facilities. So we're going on Tuesday! Before that fun, I have a doctor's appointment to check and see how the baby's doing... I'll also be re-screened for fifth's disease since I'm not immune and it was floating around school as well as drink some yummy orange stuff and have my blood drawn to see if I have gestational diabetes... FUN FUN. On Saturday, we're going for our 3D/4D ultrasound with Proud Daddy Mike, Mimi Barb, Pop Pop Len, Grandma Julie, and Grandpa Big Mike. We're super excited about this experience and can't wait to see her in action... 3D/4D action! I'll be sure to post pics and maybe a video....

Here is what Baby Girl Schaab is up to this week according to www.babycenter.com:

This week, your baby weighs about 2 pounds and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Here is what the bump says about month 6:

Let your spouse put an ear to your belly -- he might be able to pick up baby's heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving baby a healthy pink glow. Baby's also soaking up your antibodies, getting the immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and baby will soon perfect the blink -- perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.

How far along? 27 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: + 13.5 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them!

Sleep: Was a challenge this week being sick. I was up coughing a lot... however I did get to sneak in a few naps.

Best moment this week: Hanging out in Pottery Barn Kids and picking a color for the nursery. Mike and I spent some quality time testing out chairs, looking at cribs and changing tables as well as other great stuff for the nursery! I'm also pretty excited about finding a pediatrician... as that is a major thing to cross off the list of things to do before the baby comes! :)

Movement: For sure! She is becoming more active and I think I know how to make her move sometimes.... Still, only Caymus and Mike have felt her move so far.

Food cravings:
Ice Cream and Milkshakes... Oberweis preferred. :)

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Not yet.

Belly Button in or out? In... getting more shallow ever day... it's only a matter of time.

What I miss: Sleep....

What I am looking forward to: Hearing our daughter's heartbeat on Tuesday at the doctor, meeting the pediatricians on Tuesday, and our 3D/4D Ultrasound on Saturday! We are so excited for this experience! We'll get to take home some pictures as well as a DVD of the whole experience. Week 26

We are starting week 26 today! Week 25 was a little rocky for mommy Caroline, as I had strep throat and a sinus infection as well as my asthma has returned! Baby Schaab was a trooper, and stayed quite active all week, despite the fact that I was on the couch from Wednesday until Saturday (1 snow day and 2 sick days)... and took it easy Saturday and Sunday. Luckily I have the day off of school to rest today and hope that my sinuses and throat start to cooperate. On Sunday, we enjoyed a lovely low key Valentine's Day which included Walker Brother's Apple Pancake for Breakfast and a Heart Shaped Lou's for dinner. Since Mike and I are both getting over being sick, this low key celebration was the way to go!

Here's what's going on this week according to www.babycenter.com:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: + 12.5 lbs. (we ate way too much soup this week)

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them!

Sleep: Was a challenge this week being sick. I was up coughing a lot... however I did get to sneak in a few naps.

Best moment this week: When I was home sick on Thursday, and nurse Barb was taking care of me with her buddy Caymus, the baby kicked Caymus. It was so funny because he got up and moved!

Movement: Is becoming more regular... however she is still the most active in the morning and in the evening before bed. Mike and Caymus are the only ones who've felt the baby move. The baby also always moves when Mike gets home from work and he tells me about his day... it's almost like she as excited as I am that he's home!

Food cravings:
Oberweis Milk Shake (Chocolate Marshmallow)... which I had on Saturday night and was AMAZING!

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Not yet. :)

Belly Button in or out? In... getting more shallow ever day... it's only a matter of time.

What I miss: Sleep....

What I am looking forward to: Our 3D/4D Ultrasound that we scheduled for a week from this Saturday. My friend Meghan went this weekend and got some amazing pictures of her little girl. Mike and I scheduled to do one today, to get another peak at our little girl. We are so excited for this experience! We'll get to take home some pictures as well as a DVD of the whole experience. To see what these pictures will look like, check out their website: http://www.goldenviewultrasound.com/gallery.html

I also ordered the baby some Yes to Baby Carrots products today from Walgreens since they were 25% off however only available online. I'm hoping the baby is going to be a Carrot Lover just like her mom! I ordered the Yes to Baby Carrots Lotion, Bubble Bath, Soothing Diaper Cream, and Gentle Foaming Shampoo & Body Wash. We'll see how she likes it in May!

25 Weeks

As it was pointed out this weekend... only about 3 months to go (105 days to be exact)! There is so much going on in those next three months before we meet our baby girl! Moving, finishing my administration master's degree, and hopefully selling our house... all on top of getting ready for Baby Girl Schaab. Mike and I can't wait to meet our little girl! She is moving around more and more... and is getting a little stronger in her kicks... she must have my soccer genes!

Here is what's going on this week according to www.babycenter.com:
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

The bump says,

How far along? 25 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: + 12.5 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them!

Sleep: Waking up a couple times a night to make trips to the bathroom. I'm also back to liking to go to bed early.

Best moment this week: When Mike saw my belly move!

Movement: She is getting quite strong! I'm noticing her moving a lot more now. Mike is able to feel her more regularly, usually when we wake up or go to sleep.... Mike also saw my belly move this weekend... CRAZY!

Food cravings:
Really just the same things... root beer... which I prefer from the fountain... and any sort of cut up fruit! :) I've also been thinking about DQ butterscotch dipped chocolate cone, however haven't had any yet!

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Not yet. :)

Belly Button in or out? In... getting more shallow ever day... it's only a matter of time.

What I miss: My back not hurting at the end of the day.

What I am looking forward to: MOVING! I can't wait to get the nursery ready for our little girl. We are planning on moving Friday, March 19th. We went to our new house with a painter, carpenter, and floor guy this past Friday, and Mike and I are so excited about this new place where we'll be raising our family!!!! I'm also looking forward to my baby shower which my sisters, mom, and aunt were talking about this weekend. Our daughter is so blessed to have so many people who love her already!

Week 24

Here is what my week 24 belly looks like...

Yup! It keeps getting bigger!

Here's what's going on with Baby Girl Schaab this week according to www.babycenter.com...
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound (which she was last week at the doctor already). Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. Your baby's unique hand- and footprints are forming. You may feel jumps as she has bouts of hiccups. In fact, it may seem like the baby is in perpetual motion. Some babies now kick in response to sounds and touch from outside the womb.

How far along? 24 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: + 12 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes and loving them!

Sleep: Waking up a couple times a night with a lot of tossing and turning.

Best moment this week: Hearing our little girl's heartbeat at the doctor's office on Thursday. 157 bpm.

Movement: She is quite the active little girl. She seems to be most active at night time however I've been feeling her a lot more during the day... especially when I'm talking for long periods of time or reading at school. She also always moves when Mike talks to her at night time and when we play music to her.

Food cravings:
Fountain Root Beer.... still. I'm also a big fan of cantaloupe.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Not yet. :)

Belly Button in or out? In... getting more shallow ever day.

What I miss: My back not hurting.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing the baby kick and my belly move. She kicks pretty strong sometimes, however I haven't been able to "see" it outside of my belly yet.
